The Super Hilarious Mary-Sue Litmus Test!

Mary Sue's! The bane of enjoyable RP and the deterrent of story lines around many a RP server. Here you will test your character, and determine if they are indeed one of the dreaded few(many?).

By using this test I found online!

I'll do the three Baail's, and post up other scores later when I'm bored at work.

Aiden: 1

Kaste: 7

Reishi: 3

Gestalt: 10

Kahi got a 5.  Hooray Kahi.

Among the maxims on Lord Naoshige's wall, there was this one: "Matters of great concern should be treated lightly." Master Ittei commented, "Matters of small concern should be treated seriously."

That's the exact test I use to get a feel for where my characters are sitting.

Iaera was in the teens somewhere, if I recall. Notable checks - half-breed, 'best in galaxy at young age,' and I think I may have checked 'separated from parents,' depending on wording (for all intents and purposes the Jedi Order are her parents, so I'm not sure if I considered her biological parents or not).

edit ~

I retook it to make sure. Checks:

Exotic race (Echani)
Cross-breed (Half Echani)
Habitually shares wisdom (she's a Jedi Master! It's her job!)
Unusually accomplished for age (29)
- Extremely useful (Lightsaber combat)
Among the best (Lightsaber combat)
Extra language (Huttese)
Asskicker of goons (again... her job... :p)
Raised by different family (Jedi Order)
Lost close friend (her Master, to the attack on Coruscant)
Has rushed into a fight and got her ass kicked
Questions/doubts own actions (recent Olle thing in particular)
Admits to being wrong
Non-human reactions (ask her to spar, or start a fist-fight in front of her!)
RP tool

Oh jeez. Six?! I thought I was higher than that...  :scared:

Kyp got a 9. Pretty sure it came from "Looks good, Has stupid virtues he keeps sticking to, and has implants."

I also put in "Goofy"

Miller got a 15.
'It'd been a good night for Miller Turlim; he got his closure, got a nice meal, got laid, but of course, his subconscious wouldn't let him so easily escape to a state of elation.' - How did anyone ever let me post on this site.

-Very useful
Among the best
Second langauge (Sith)

I actually took this test for Santana awhile ago and I can't even remember what I got but it was somewhere in mid-range. I'll have to take it again later.

However, this test isn't really all that accurate considering the universe we're all in lol. We have the races they gave us to choose from, half of us DO have powers and out of 6 billion people on the planet, it's quite hard not to have a cookie cutter of something somewhere. It's almost as if to not be a Mary Sue, you have to have almost no storyline what so ever.

Still a neato idea, I'll do it later, Its just too much to read right now when I just woke up lol.

We have the races they gave us to choose from, half of us DO have powers and out of 6 billion people on the planet, it's quite hard not to have a cookie cutter of something somewhere. It's almost as if to not be a Mary Sue, you have to have almost no storyline what so ever.

The test has to be taken in context. For example, there are checks for "Has unique magical powers" and such - but in Star Wars, using the Force (for instance) doesn't qualify, because that's just part of the universe. If you used the Force in a modern day Earth setting, then it would be +Sue points, but because it's Star Wars, it doesn't count.

There's also a higher tolerance for RP characters. Roleplay inherently involves just a dash of Sue - otherwise the character usually isn't very interesting. Since it's also a form of improv acting, there's a lot of 'you' in your character by necessity, and that also raises the average Sueness of a typical RP character. So it's not a big deal to be in the 20s (by this test's metrics) for an RP character.

In fact, those of us slumming it in the single digits might even want to consider a little spice, although such adjustments are a fine art, since the test isn't necessarily an ironclad indictment one way or the other.

Gestalt is a 10! Highest I've gotten so far, and he doesn't even have space magic. Hmn.
