The Taking of Titan Six

Quote
In front of several holocams the twi'lek Grand Chancellor Shareesh adjusts herself at a important-looking formal desk. Worry and distraught clearly color her face, and after a moment she addresses those who would be watching.
"My fellow citizens, it is with a heavy heart that I address you this evening. On Space!February 27th, at 14:23 hours local time, the Republic agricultural settlement of Malronvae was attacked."
She pauses for a moment to allow the weight of those words to sink into listeners.
"It is unclear at this time who is responsible for this assault, as neither the Empire nor any known terrorist organization has claimed credit. The offending vessel, a frigate-class warship identifying itself as 'Titan Six', opened fire on the peaceful residence with advanced weaponry and technology after brief communication with ground forces - rendering our defensive capabilities on the world useless."
The head of the Senate places her palms flat on the desk in front of her. Her expression hardens as the speech continues on, determined fortitude and perhaps even anger replacing the spaces that held concern.
"The world of Malronvae has been devastated by this tragedy, and Republic aid has been dispatched to help these great people in their time of need. Many have lost their lives, their loved ones, and their homes. To all that have been victimized, our hearts and prayers are with you.
"But this unprovoked atrocity will not go unanswered. Our enemy is strong, prepared, and ready - we must respond in kind. As of this moment, we are at war with the unknown."
Chancellor Shareesh nods solemnly to the camera, her face held in stern defiance, and the address ends as abruptly as it had began.

     What This Is
Malronvae is a peaceful agricultural world that boasted light industry and a low population. The attack on its population by an unknown and unidentified enemy has shaken the Republic to its core. Fears that the Empire has reopened the war mount with the uncertainty that comes with being so clearly outmatched. The response is overwhelming as the Republic military and assets frantically search for any sign of those who could have caused this or the perpetrating ship.
Unfortunately, Imperial Intelligence has found it first.
The Empire knows that they were not behind the attack, but any weapon that can so easily disrupt the Republic and their defenses could be of great use. Unlike the Republic, who seeks to destroy the offenders, Imperial Intelligence wants the vessel captured for study.
On March 2nd, the Empire dispatches a team of both hired specialists and Imperial battle-ready insurgents to seize the mysterious vessel, clear it of hostiles, and return it to Imperial space.

     How This Works
This event is considered Empire Aligned - meaning that any character may sign up, however this is a mission mandated by the Empire itself, and as such there may be characters who have a hard time finding a reason to be a part. There is at present no maximum number of slots.
This event is part one of a trilogy, intended to have an only-loosely related sister-event that is Republic Aligned later on before an Independent Aligned event that is a result of the actions taken in both events beforehand.
Obviously, the nature of the premise to this event could affect a Republic character quite a bit. I would encourage anyone who would like to use and run with this information as their own to have fun with it. This event deals with the ship itself, and does not touch on the attack delivered as the premise, so any fun anyone wants to have with it is awesome.

     The Cameos
I will be once again offering the ability to sign up for 'Cameo Roles' for those who either are not able to attend or those who would like to be a part of the story without being a part of the event. What role or place a Cameo Player would like to play is entirely up to the player, and can range from Imperial Escort Fighter to medical attendant on the transport ship to a specialist who can only be communicated with over comm.
Please note that these roles do not assume I will be playing your character. The extent of the mention, role, the interaction, or what have you can be entirely determined by the signing player. Someone who won't be there at all might be an Imperial Escort, for example, and I may describe how awesomely they take down some opponents, but I would not play their character unless asked. On the other hand, someone who was only communicable over comm might be an observer at the event, and chime in when called upon by the comm. The point is, there is extreme flexibility here.

     The System
The actual event will take place in our BC.org chat, and use the base d100 system that we've all gotten familiar with through other events. To summarize - when a roll for an action is called for in the event, we will roll a d100 plus a bonus(if applicable) to determine the outcome based on these results:
     1-35 is consider unsuccessful.
     36-74 is considered a success.
75-100 is considered a critical success, and will confer a situational advantage.
As this is a high-risk, combat-oriented event, we will be using an HP mechanic similar to that regularly seen in other events. Each character will be start the event with a base of 4 HP. When failing a roll in combat or in dangerous situations, there is a possibility the result may deplete one of your HP. For example, slicing a computer console and failing probably will not affect your HP count, merely affect the situation. However, slicing said computer under fire and failing might result in a stray shot striking your character - explaining the failure in retrospect and depleting 1 HP.
In addition to this, and inspired by a recent event, your character will be allowed three Traits. A Trait is a short descriptive sentence or phrase that describes your character in some way that can affect your rolls in a given situation.
Unlike my Heist event, this event does not require a strict adherence to any sort of steadfast Positive or Negative distinction, and a trait can be as precise or as abstract as you see fit within reason.
In general, if a trait would benefit you in a given situation, that trait will give a +10 to rolls when called upon either by you or the DM. If a trait would negatively affect you, it will supply a -15 to a roll when they are called upon, however will allow you to save a 'Fate Point' for later use which gives a +20 to any roll of your choice. Any character can only hold one Fate Point at a time.

I knew some of the Palace history, but not the bit about Jaade crashing that barge. That's good lore, right there.

After checking my calender (and learning that I won't be able to make it to the Architect event), I am very much interested in joining in on this as Zuhani. For the Empire!

EDIT:

As for traits, I liked a couple of the ones you had in the Architect thread, so:

Close-quarters combatant - (positive) - Due to training, experience, or a special affinity to the Force, this character is particularly skilled in close quarters combat. Add +10 to rolls involving armed or unarmed combat taking place within arm's reach of the enemy.

Lone Wolf - (Negative) - Not used to working together in a team situation, characters with this trait find it difficult to come together but carry skills that make them valuable regardless. -15 to teamwork situations, but awarding 1 Fate Point.

Force Prowess - (Positive) - Some characters are just more gifted with their Force abilities. This trait offers a flat +10 bonus on all Force abilities used during the event.

 :shifty:

You know I read over that like 4 times and missed it every time.. LOL.  And yea since I use the forum now instead of just the calender to click on I sometimes miss the date being there ;).

And awesome - OK I"M IN!!  Barring something else getting planed in the next coupel of months for Sat. March 2nd, I AM THERE!

I'm gonna change out a trait for some other trait from my previous list I think just to shift some up (though I may end up not doing it lol) - just trying to decide if I should have a light-saber-fighting-related trait or not like every other Sithy...LOL ;).  But I'll get those to ya.

Sign me up.  Jen’rhak would be hot to get credit for bringing this kind of tech to Imperial Reclamations for further study.

Lord Jen’rhak Seselis, Shadow of Moirae

Traits:

Leadership - (Unique) - Either through inspiring courage, intimidating demand, or simple demeanor, a character with the Leadership trait can make the suggestion that another character take a given action. If the receiving character finds reason to comply, they are given a +10 bonus to that action.

Conspicuous - (Negative) - Whether it be by lack of care, heavy armor, a loud mouth, or simple compulsiveness, characters with this trait sacrifice the ability of stealth for other strengths. -15 to sneaky rolls, but awarding 1 Fate Point.

Persuasive - (Positive) - Intimidation, Sweet-Talking, Fast-Talking, or just plain clever, the results are the same: characters with this trait have a knack for getting what they want out of people and gain a +10 bonus to conversation rolls.

-edit- Somethings have changed and Kavra can't make it IC I think for this one but I still wish to partake so I will bring Nonus. Traits can be changed if need be.

Thyrsian Sun Guard - Thyrsians have a burning hate for their kin the Echani and their rivals the Mandalorians, but like their Echani kin, they could still read body language to predict the moves of their opponents. -15 to rolls that have to deal with interactions with Echani and Mandalorians do the hate and a +10 to rolls to dodge a blow in melee.

Martial artist - Trained in the fighting style of the Echani, the Sun Guard are deadly in hand to hand combat, but they add their own unique spin on the style by adding in the use of bladed weapons. More so on the pike, the go to weapon for the Sun Guard. +10 to hand to hand and Thyrisan weapons (bladed weapons) in combat but a -15 to use of a blaster or slugthrower for focusing so much on melee.

Veteran  - This isn't your first rodeo. You've been on many tours, seen the galaxy, and stomped on the opposition. You gain a bonus (+5) versus intimidation and in situations involving teamwork (+5)

I'm interested in going on Semah. I am of course open to a cameo, but would prefer to be in on the event. This would be my first RP event here.

(Lord) Semah Valerian

Mother Bear (Unique): Semah is adept at protecting those under her
care. At the time a nearby ally is about to receive damage, Semah can
intercede, taking the full damage herself instead.

Tutaminis Mastery (Unique): Semah has made a deep study into using
both her "light" and "dark" emotions to fuel and strengthen defensive
force-techniques. Her ability to absorb and deflect damage gives her
+2 starting HP.

Conspicuous - (Negative) - Whether it be by lack of care, heavy armor,
a loud mouth, or simple compulsiveness, characters with this trait
sacrifice the ability of stealth for other strengths. -15 to sneaky
rolls, but awarding 1 Fate Point.

OOC: Thanks to Sciran and Aiden for helping me tailor the traits. I don't intend to play her as a standard "tank" in the in-game sense, but I needed the traits. Semah is likely involved at her own request, having been ordered to "make herself useful" in imperial space. Her interest is not so much in acquiring the offensive technology as making sure it is never used on Imperial citizens.

(What time do you expect this to start at?)

Sorry if I've missed this info, but what time will this event be starting? Timing will affect whether I have to request a cameo instead of participating.

Apologies, but no - you haven't missed the info... It's not in the original post. I'm still working out the when's of this event with a work related project, so was not able to volunteer the spot yet.

I will know Thursday of this week.
